Betway US review

Betway is one of the biggest names in European gambling, and it’s finally arrived in the US. While the Betway sportsbook is available in at least five states so far, the online casino has now launched in two - New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Betway has a strong reputation across the pond, so we were excited to see what it was going to bring to the table here. It’s off to a strong start too, with a relatively small but fun menu of games, excellent software, a great welcome bonus and more. There’s also a tab in the casino that gives you instant access to the sportsbook, making it a great option for sports betting fans.

The software at Betway feels modern and intelligently designed, created with maximum efficiency in mind. There are no flashy advertisements or unnecessary extra sections of the site. Instead, the focus is on presenting the games themselves.

Some parts of the platform, like checking out the promotions, are only available once you’re logged in and verified. It’s not a big deal if you’re signing up anyway, but we’d prefer if prospective players could check them out in advance more easily.

The gaming menu at Betway has plenty of great games to choose from trusted providers. For now, there are no live dealer games which is a shame but there is a healthy selection of slots, along with table games and video poker.

Slots

Betway has a good selection of slots, including classic games like Gonzo’s Quest, Starburst and Dead or Alive. In total, there are more than 100 different games - which is on the smaller side compared to some competitors. The games are mostly provided by NetEnt, one of the best software providers out there.

All the slots we tested out worked perfectly. They were quick to load, and the graphics and gameplay looked great hosted on Betway’s site.

There is also a section of the site dedicated to progressive jackpot games. During our review, there were six different progressives up for grabs, including Mercy of the Gods. 

Table Games

The table games on offer at Betway follow the lead of the slot selection. Once again, it’s not the deepest menu we’ve come across, but the games that are there are great. You can choose between blackjack, roulette, baccarat, craps, and various forms of video poker. There are a good mix of limits, which should cover just about every type of player.

It appears Betway has hosted live dealer games in the past, but during our review they were not on the platform.

Bonuses and promotions are a huge part of attracting new players to an online casino, and Betway doesn't sleep on the offers. While there are some good casino promos, it should also be acknowledged that the majority of the bonuses and offers are reserved for the sportsbook.

Betway’s welcome bonus is impressive, although slightly let down by its wagering requirements. It comes in the form of a 100% deposit bonus which maxes out at an excellent $1,000. That means if you deposit $1,000 when you create your account, you’ll actually be given $2,000 to play with.

However, the wagering requirements are steep. You need to gamble the value of your initial deposit plus bonus cash 30x before you’ll be able to withdraw any of your winnings. For example, if you deposit $100 you’ll also receive $100 in bonus cash. Before you can withdraw any cash you need to place bets totaling [$200 x 30] $6,000. You can also opt out of the bonus to unlock your qualifying deposit only.

Betway also has a Daily Deal promo, where every user can claim one boosted deposit per day. The percentage of the boost varies, and the bonus is subject to the same wagering requirements as the welcome bonus.

Overall, the bonuses at Betway are good, but would be more valuable if those wagering requirements were lowered.

Betway is doing a lot of things right with its banking options. We always like to see plenty of different methods supported, no extra processing fees and fast payouts - and all of those are accounted for to varying degrees.

For depositing, you can choose between a Play+ card, PayPal, Credit Cards including Visa and Mastercard, PayNearMe, VIP Preferred (ACH Transfer), and using cash at the casino cage. Betway charges no fees for any of its methods, which is great. You’ll find that some of them do have external fees however, like PayNearMe, so check before depositing.

You can withdraw via PayPal, ACH Transfer, Play+ or cash at the casino cage. There’s a mandatory processing period attached to all withdrawals, with the payout times varying after that. The quickest method is via Play+, which should get your money released within 48 hours. Overall, we’re pleased with the banking options at Betway.

The customer support section at Betway is very detailed. There are explanatory articles about just about every part of the site, including sportsbook and casino games. A live chat service lets you get instant help with a range of issues. Our only criticism is that that help section is a little difficult to find, and we’d prefer a more prominent link on the homepage.

Betway has a joint casino and sportsbook app which you can download for both iOS and Android. You’ll find it in the App Store and the Google Play Store, and it only takes a couple of seconds to download. If you’d prefer not to install the software on your device, you can also play on your mobile device via the browser.

The games work perfectly on any type of mobile and the stripped back site translates nicely to the smaller screen. Having the sportsbook easily at hand is a bonus too.

Betway may not be the largest online casino in the US, but it does perform well for a casino of its size. The software is easy to use and the list of games are modest. There are plenty of NetEnt classics on the menu that will appeal to newbies and regulars alike. Sports fans will enjoy the sportsbook offering too.

In terms of improvements, the addition of live dealer games would be nice. We’d also love to see the wagering requirements lowered a little, to make that generous $1,000 welcome bonus a little more competitive.
